Hi Matt,
Thanks for posting this interesting view on roottalk that reflects well
our original intention with the list.
A few more points:
- It is not our intention to introduce any limitation in the posting.
- we expect people to post questions/problems of general interest.
- We strongly encourage the mails to have a clear "Subject" that can
help
in searching later in the archives.
- When a problem is reported, please ALWAYS indicate the root version
tag
and the machine.
- When a problem is reported, provide an example as short as possible
that we can use to reproduce the problem. But provide enough
information.
We are spending a lot of time in asking for more information.
- Before sending a mail, please consult the mail archive to check if
a similar problem/question has already been posted.
- if you report a problem, consult the release notes of the latest
development version. May be your problem has already been solved.
- do not hesitate to post URLs of your work. We are aware of very
interesting
developments in many areas. We can also add your URL to our reference
list.
