linux upgrade vs root stability

Hi,

I'm planning to upgrade quite soon my Linux System either to RH6.0 or to
Mandrake6.0. The first one includes egcs1.1.3 and i know that a port of
ROOT already exists. What about pgcc included as default in the Mandrake
release ? Does anybody have experience of ROOT smootly running on Linux
Mandrake6.0 ?
