With the Open... dialog box I'm having problems to access automounted
directories. The catch is, that there is no way to specify the directory
path in a text box. The only way to select a directory is by clicking on a
directory icon. This clearly fails in case of automounted directories, where
the mount point is dynamically created. In our Linux setup, for example, the
home directories are all accessed through autofs (or amd). So there is a
"/u" directory associated with a automounter map. The actual mountpoints
"/u/<username>" are generated dynamically, and will thus not show up as
directory icons in the Open... dialog.
Entering a directory name in the File box results in
SysError in <TFile::TFile>: file /u/mueller can not be opened (Is a dir)
The current workaround is to enter the directory name in the "File name"
field, click Open. This give the error shown above, but because the directory
file was accessed, the automount took place. So just retrying the Open...
dialog now will display the directory icon.
It'll be helpful if the open dialog would recognize that a file is a
directory and handle it as a directory.
With best regards, Walter
